At around 10pm yesterday, more than 300 employees from the baggage security and security check point department held strike protest, refusing to continue work. ASM (Asia Security Management Co. Ltd) has been identify as the outsourced company which Management of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport has engage with.

Forcing management of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport requesting for manpower from Bangkok’s domestic airport, Don Meaung, so as to continue security operations in Bangkok suvarabhumi airport.
The few reasons which cause this strike protest occur are:

Reason 1) Unhappy about wages. They get paid about 300baht for a 12 hour shift daily. Or 9000 Baht monthly.
Reason 2) Last year promised annual bonus have not been given.
Reason 3) Due to Chinese New Year Holidays, there is an influx of Chinese tourists, leading to a serious manpower shortage resulting in overwork and overtime.
Reason 4) Overtime salary is counted wrongly and not prompt in payment.

It is understand that negotiations are still on-going. Currently, ASM (Asia Security Management Co. Ltd) has propose an offer of:
- A increase of 300 baht from 9000baht to 9300baht monthly.
2. A confirm 1 month annual year end bonus
A testimony from one of the employees stating that ASM (Asia Security Management Co. Ltd) has been quite tough on its stand, stating that, employees whom are not accepting the new offer, are welcome to leave and go.
Therefore, both Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport and Bangkok Don Meaung airport will be facing a much longer waiting time at the security checkpoints.
Do take note: Travellers heading in/out of Bangkok, do expect longer waiting time at the security checkpoint. Therefore, travellers leaving Bangkok, try to arrive at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi much earlier. And travellers arriving in Bangkok, do try to be patient, as the management smooth things out with its’ employees.
