Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) flips their words in a press conference yesterday. Announcing that they will not be banning Bangkok Street Food, but to “Transform Bangkok Street Food scene into well-organised areas for Bangkok street food vendors.”

Mr Wanlop Suwandee, chief adviser to the Bangkok governor, further adds that the BMA will still continue to promote Yaowarat (ChinaTown) and Khao San Road as major tourist attractions in Bangkok. Street food vendors will only be allowed in small alleys and designated zone areas.

In a twist of events, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will be co-hosting along with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for the up-coming Bangkok Street Food Festival in June 2017. The event will present Bangkok street food along major tourist streets in Bangkok, like Yaowarat (ChinaTown), Khao San Road and Pratunam areas.
